Fishing in Llangollen on the beautiful Welsh Dee

Llangollen-Maelor Angling Association control approximately 10 miles of excellent grayling, trout and salmon fishing in Llangollen on the Welsh Dee.

To help club members and visiting anglers, I have produced guides for fishing 19 pools. Each pool guide describes how best to fly fish for grayling, trout, sea trout and salmon.

Below is a summary of each pool with a link to the complete guide; just a click away.

Upper Beat - fishing in Llangollen

Dereck's Pool

The first pool on the Upper Beat is Dereck's. It is a short tree-lined pool that the river has scoured out of the bedrock. The pool has a very uneven topography consisting of gullies strewn with boulders, which offer good lies for grayling, trout and salmon.

Middle Beat - fishing in Llangollen

Lower Beat - fishing in Llangollen

Ddol Issa Beat - fishing in Llangollen

Bathers Beat - fishing in Llangollen

[Disclaimer – like most outdoor sports, fly fishing is not without its hazards. Therefore, you MUST do your own RISK ASSESSMENT before starting to fish; especially if you decide to wade and/or fish at night. In addition, you must follow the Llangollen-Maelor fishing club rules when fishing in Llangollen.]
