Welsh Dee Fishing Report – Week Ending 20 Aug 17

Surprisingly, this week I have only heard of a few sea trout being caught on the Llangollen-Maelor club water. Bouts of heavy rain in the Welsh Dee catchment area during the week pushed the river level to 1.0 metre and after the colour cleared it was in perfect condition salmon fishing. However, I have not heard of anyone catching any salmon. Alan Johnstone, a Llangollen member, has had some sea trout success, catching a few fish to 1.5lbs on the spinner but unfortunately, lost a good sea trout (ca. 4lbs) on the top beat.

I went to Edinburgh and was unable to go fishing this week on the Welsh Dee but did manage a day fishing on the Tweed near Melrose; to find out how I got on read my next blog post.  Next week I hope to be able to go fishing on Thursday. So hopefully, will have more to report.

If anyone else would like to contribute to this review then please send me a quick note to andrewoverend1@gamil.com with any photos by Sunday of each week and if appropriate I will add it to the weekly review.

Tight line until next week, Andrew
