Fishing at Bangor On Dee - The Village and Ormrod's Beats

Fishing at Bangor On Dee Dukes Pool is my favourite pool for fishing at Bangor On Dee. The tree lined far bank offers shelter for salmon when the river is low. In higher water it can be fished from the bank or by carefully wading close to the right bank. Furthermore, it hold a good head of trout & grayling which can easily be targeted using all the main fly fishing techniques...
Fishing at Bangor on Dee

The Bridge Pool is a small pocket of water that occasionally holds resting salmon, which have moved up from Dukes Pool. In low water I have caught quite a few grayling & trout fly fishing in the shadow of the bridge using dry flies and Czech nymphs. In addition, searching the fast run down to Dukes Pool with either wet flies or Czech nymphs…

Tell Run - fishing at Bangor on Dee

Twll Run is a short 80m stretch of water that is located directly after Joby’s and runs into the Pump House Pool. The bottom is mainly composed of gravel with occasional boulders closer to the left bank. When the river is close to its summer level, I find it easy to wade down close to the right bank and fish the fly for grayling, trout and salmon….

Cadbury's Pool - fishing at Bangor on Dee

Cadbury’s Pool holds some good grayling and trout.  I prefer to fish it when the Welsh Dee is close to its summer level . In the height of summer, it’s a great place to fish because the large overhanging trees on the right bank cast shade on to the river as it flows eastwards

The Church Pool - Fishing at Bangor on Dee

The Church Pool is first pool on the Village Beat, just above the ‘Old Road Bridge’. Salmon often hold in the slow, deep part of the pool, which can easily be fished from the right bank with the fly or spinner. The tail pool is a good place for fly fishing for trout & grayling…
